Takes telephone menu selections from patients and caregivers and provides assistance to healthcare professional colleagues. Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals. Must employ active listening and remain solutions oriented. Ability to navigate multiple diet office systems, electronic medical record and multi- line call center software. Must be able to work quickly while making accurate decisions. The Dietetic Assistant is responsible for all clerical functions for patient meal service through accurate menu processing and assisting patients with menu selections. Maintains the room service program and electronic medical record so that patient files are updated with appropriate dietary information according to physician order. Must be able to calculate meal plans and tube feedings. Demonstrates skills necessary to coordinate menu selections for pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
One year experience in a hospital or healthcare food service setting preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
