APP CICU Full Time Day/Night
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) diagnoses medical conditions, plans and implements interventions, and evaluates critically ill patients in collaboration with Intensivist/Cardiac Surgeons/Cardiologists/Intervention/Structural Heart and Electrophysiologists. He/she may perform invasive therapeutic procedures (namely central venous lines, arterial lines, thoracotomy tubes, intubation) based on the needs of the specific patient population as determined collaboratively with the intensivist and as per credentialing and privileging policies. He/she will also lead CODES and manage arrhythmias per ACLS/CALS guidelines. He/she will perform ventilator management, invasive line removal, medication de-escalation, and facilitate transfer of patients into and out of the critical care units in collaboration with intensivists. The advanced practice provider will facilitate communication between patients and family members and the healthcare team. He/ she will collaborate with nurses and managers to implement and evaluate holistic patient care delivery and serve as a resource to members of the healthcare team to facilitate delivery by using an in-depth pathophysiologic and psychosocial knowledge base. The APP will also work in conjunction with the Intensivist and Director of CICU to perform daily rounds on CICU patients, facilitating execution of the prescribed treatment plan. The APP will request consultations as needed from other services and will maintain awareness of all consulting actions.
EDUCATION:
RN and APN licensed in the State of New Jersey. APN national certification required. Or Physician Assistant, licensed in the State of New Jersey. PA national certification required.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of one years of experience in cardiac surgery/coronary care unit or related cardiac specialties. Motivated new graduates with related experience will be considered.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
ACLS and BLS required. Serves on call and weekends as required.
