Director, Health Information Management
POSITION SUMMARY:
Valley Health System ‘s Director of Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for coordinating HIM services across the system. This role implements and manages system wide HIM activities. Provides support at the facility level for HIM operations, revenue cycle opportunities, and project implementation.
Information Integrity: To continuously improve the value of information by ensuring that data and content are accurate, reliable, up-to-date, consistent and meaningful to end users.
- Audits of structured and unstructured data accuracy
- Audits of chart documentation content quality
- Error corrections/amendments
- Provider education
Reimbursement: To support revenue cycle activities at the Valley Health System.
- Centralized coding management as needed
- Coordination of coding audits
- Clinical Documentation Improvement: inpatient and outpatient
- Coordination of Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs)
- Consultation and guidance
Confidentiality and Protection: To ensure that personal health information and business information are available only to authorized users.
- Standardize release of information practices at Valley Health System
Documentation Life Cycle: Involved with processes for retention and disposition of documentation, legal and regulatory requirements for creation and maintenance of documentation.
- Retention policies and practices
- Disposition policies and practices
Data Governance: Involved with health data stewardship: the responsibility to ensure the knowledgeable and appropriate use of data derived from individuals ‘ personal health information.
- Participation with policies and procedures that address the creation and use of data at Valley Health System
- Enterprise MPI merges/corrections
EDUCATION:
Masters ‘ Degree in related field required. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of ten years of Health Information Management experience with a minimum of five years of experience in a management/leadership role in HIM.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Must be able to handle a fast paced work environment.
